Detective Case had been called to the local university’s dormitory. The football team’s prized mascot outfit, Truman Tiger, had been stolen and was still missing with only hours until the the inter-school cup final. The tiger costume had seen better days but was always there, ready to cheer on the team come rain or shine.
“This case is rather low-stakes, is it not?” enquired the detective with a supercilious air. “Not at all!” grunted the inspector. “They’ve practised all year for this match. An absent mascot would put them at a clear disadvantage!”
“The facts are this: Prized striker Roberto Sedonia, an exchange student from Mexico, was the last person to see the costume. He testifies that it was kept safely in his teammates’ dorm room on the second floor. The lads all went out for one last training session and then straight on to the game. Sedonia sent the waterboy back to the dorms but there was no sign of it!”
“And immediately you assumed our light-footed friend was also light-fingered?” chimed in Case.
“Precisely, we searched the entire floor but didn’t find any sign of it. The Sedonia seems somewhat mute on the matter!” scoffed the inspector.
“I think if we perform another search, the tiger costume will be revealed along with Sedonia’s innocence!” declared the detective.
